Licenses and permits are required for various investment-related activities, including constructing an office building, setting up a factory, and building a warehouse. Procedures for building a warehouse are:

  • Submit written application for building permit to Kaduna State Urban Planning & Development Authority (KASUPDA) and pay the fee.
  • Obtain a site analysis report.
  • Receive site inspection from KASUPDA.
  • Pick up approval of building plans from KASUPDA.
  • Receive supervisory inspection.
  • Obtain fixed telephone line.
  • Apply for electricity connection and pay fees.
  • Receive inspection by electrical provider.
  • Obtain electrical power connection.
  • Apply for water connection and pay fees.
  • Receive inspection by water provider.
  • Obtain water connection.
Process Cost Time
1 – Submit written application for building permit to Kaduna State Urban Planning & Development Authority (KASUPDA) and pay fee. Application consists of:
  • Letter stating need for building permit
  • 3 copies of the architectural, structural, electrical and mechanical drawings
  • Certificate of Occupancy, tax clearance, feasibility study and site analysis report
KASUPDA drafts report indicating suitability of land for project. Must frequently follow up with authorities to ensure that the application is processed on time.

  • KASUPDA designates town planner responsible for preparing the site analysis report. Town planner will inspect the site of construction and prepare report.
